Young Mozambican international athlete Amélia Pinga is shining on the African sports scene, securing a place among the top eight in the triple jump, as announced by World Athletics. At just 18 years old and competing in the senior category, Amélia has already made history by breaking all national triple jump records that had stood for over 20 years, previously held by Telma Cossa.
Amélia Pinga has distinguished herself not only for her youth, but also for her impressive skill and determination. In June 2024, during the AGN League 7 & Track & Field in Pretoria, South Africa, the athlete achieved second place with a mark of 13.9 meters, a remarkable performance that reinforces her status as one of the leading athletes in her specialty. Furthermore, at the African Championships held in Douala, Cameroon, she finished in eighth place, demonstrating her consistency and competitiveness on the African stage.
Trained by Rolando Castro, Amélia resides at the High Performance Center in Zimpeto, Maputo, where she continues her preparation for future competitions. Her progress and achievements highlight her as one of Mozambique's most promising athletes, with a bright future ahead of her.
