Edy Alan Simões, better known as Allan Genesis, is one of the most influential figures in Hip-Hop in Mozambique. Born in Maputo, Allan began his musical journey in 2007, motivated by friends and schoolmates, but with a love for music already rooted in his heart since childhood.
Allan began to gain prominence as a member of the group Classic La Família, where he performed from 2009 to 2016. During this period, the group released the album "Agora ou Nunca," which was a landmark in Mozambican music. The group's success was evidenced by the nomination of the music video "Run" in the Best Music Video category at the Mozambique Music Awards (MMA) in 2014.
In 2017, Allan Genesis launched his solo career, releasing the album "Genesis," which addressed themes such as social intervention, love, and the daily lives of Mozambicans. The album was recorded at Tchaya Records studios in Maputo and marked the beginning of a new phase in the rapper's career.
In addition to his solo career, Allan Genesis co-founded Rapódromo, the largest rap battle league in Mozambique, alongside rapper Duas Caras. This platform has been essential for the growth of Hip-Hop in the country, offering a space for new talents to stand out.
In recent years, Allan has continued to solidify his legacy. In 2019, he headlined two memorable events: “Genesis VS Xigumandzene (Allan VS Kloro) – The Great Battle” and “Genesis: The Last Journey,” a concert with an orchestra at the Avenida Theatre. These events not only solidified his name in Mozambican music but also showcased his ability to innovate and reinvent himself as an artist.
Now, in 2024, Allan Genesis continues to be a reference in Hip-Hop, influencing and inspiring new generations of musicians in Mozambique.
