The remains of Mozambican journalist Atanásio Marcos will be buried next Tuesday in the city of Beira, his birthplace, in fulfillment of his last wish. The ceremony will mark the farewell to a professional whose career left a deep mark on national journalism.
Atanásio Marcos began his career at Rádio Cidade, in Beira, as an announcer and reporter. It was there that he took his first steps on a path that would lead to national recognition. In 2004, he embarked on new challenges by joining the SOICO group, an important milestone that boosted his career and led him to achieve recognition, awards, and the affection of the public.
Over the years, Atanásio has established himself as one of the respected voices in television journalism in Mozambique. He worked at Televisão de Moçambique (TVM), where he held various positions: he was a presenter, provincial delegate in Sofala, administrative director and, more recently, commercial director.
In recent months, Atanásio had been fighting a tough battle for his life. A struggle that unfortunately came to an end on the night of Friday, June 20, 2025, less than two months before his 45th birthday.
