On August 29th, the city of Maputo will host a special tribute to the poet José Craveirinha, as part of the event "Poetry and Sensoriality: Verses that Savor Life," promoted by the Nwanyi brand at the Batuque and Maçaroca complex.
Craveirinha, considered Mozambique's greatest poet and the first African to be awarded the Camões Prize in 1991, will be celebrated through the project "Sung Poems – Tribute to José Craveirinha". The show will feature performer Helena Rosa, Cláudio Nicoropal on keyboards, Amade Cossa on percussion, and D'Manyissa in composition and musical direction.

The initiative seeks to unite music and poetry as a way to preserve and disseminate the legacy of one of the greatest symbols of Mozambican literature. More than a tribute, the homage aims to reaffirm Craveirinha's place in national culture, bringing his words into a sensory and artistic context that resonates with new generations.
This moment concludes the literary and cultural program of the event, which, throughout the day, will also include workshops, gatherings, discussion groups, and sensory experiences.
The tribute stands out as one of the highlights of the program, reaffirming José Craveirinha's relevance as an unavoidable reference in Portuguese-language literature and as a voice that continues to inspire Mozambican society.
