Brazilian actress Taís Araújo shared on social media the remarkable experience of welcoming into her home Mozambican mother Graça Machel, the only woman in history to have served as first lady of two countries: Mozambique and South Africa. Recognized as one of the most influential figures in Africa and the world, Graça is widely admired for her fight for human dignity, access to education, and the defense of children's rights in conflict zones.
During the meeting, Taís and Graça discussed the activist's journey, from the challenges of accessing basic education, to the fight for Mozambique's independence, to her role as Minister of Education and Culture, a position that earned her international recognition, including from the UN.
For Taís Araújo, the visit was much more than a cordial encounter. "It was a privilege to hear firsthand the story of a woman whose life and struggle go far beyond the titles they try to impose on her," said the actress, referring to the fact that Mama Graça's legacy is often reduced to the role of wife to two historic leaders, Samora Machel and Nelson Mandela.

Currently a member of the international group The Elders and leader of an organization that supports women entrepreneurs on the African continent, Graça Machel continues, according to Taís, "tireless in her mission to transform lives and open paths for other women.".
