Journalist Atanásio Marcos dies: Mozambique loses one of its most respected voices.

Friday night was marked by mourning and dismay within the Mozambican media community, following the confirmation of the death of journalist Atanásio Marcos. The news was officially released by Televisão de Moçambique (TVM), putting an end to the speculation that had been circulating in recent days on social media and digital platforms.

Atanásio Marcos, widely recognized for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication to journalism, was facing serious health problems and was hospitalized in South Africa for medical treatment. Despite medical efforts and expressions of support that arrived from various parts of the country, the journalist did not survive.

His death represents an irreparable loss for Mozambican journalism. With a career marked by in-depth reporting, memorable interviews, and a sober and assertive communication style, Atanásio earned the respect of colleagues, sources, and the general public.
