Levi Aurélio Mavulele, known in the art world as King Levi Dapper, celebrates another year of life today. The fashion consultant, entrepreneur, and founder of KLD Agency marked the date with a message on social media:
“"One more chapter, one more victory, one more chance to be a light. A new chapter is here. Happy Birthday to me."”
Born in Maputo, Levi grew up in the Central, Bagamoyo, and Malhangalene neighborhoods. From an early age, he demonstrated a knack for crossing borders—both physical and cultural—in a career marked by boldness and reinvention. Among his training and experiences, highlights include a bachelor's degree in Community Development, completed in South Africa, and a professional stint at the United Nations, from which he departed in 2017 to pursue his passion for fashion.

The decision to change careers came at a high cost: a financial loss of over 500,000 meticais. Even so, it was the turning point that solidified King Levi as a leading figure in the Mozambican and international fashion sector. An organizer of fashion events, actor, ambassador for international brands, and creator of his own footwear line, Levi is today one of the most relevant voices in the segment in Mozambique.
His interest in fashion began in 2002 during a trip to Canada, inspired by his grandmother, who stood out for her classic style with suits. Since then, clothing has become synonymous with identity and respect. "Dressing well is fundamental to being taken seriously," stated the designer, whose elegance has already earned him recognition in the international press.
It was in Morocco, while living between Mozambique and England, that King Levi began to profit from fashion and consolidate his role as an influencer. He participated in a footwear campaign, an experience that motivated him to invest in his own brand. However, he emphasizes that the path was challenging, in an environment where fashion has always been associated with elites and, often, racialized. "Being a Black man in fashion meant being seen as an object, not as a protagonist," he stated.
Today, King Levi is a symbol of overcoming challenges, authenticity, and creative entrepreneurship. His story is an inspiration to young Mozambicans who dream of making their mark in unconventional fields, proving that it is possible to turn passion into a profession—with courage, consistency, and vision.
