Mozambican musician Mr Kuka has just announced the release of his new song entitled Passarinho, marking a new phase in his career with a focus on the Kadoda musical style, originating from the Niassa province.
Known for his commitment to promoting Mozambican culture, Mr. Kuka chose to use social media to share his excitement about his new work, stating: “Mozambique won, Niassa won, our Culture won and KADODA is the Scene. I can't wait for the premiere of this new work by MR. KUKA.” The phrase reflects the artist's enthusiasm for promoting this style which, although little explored commercially, has deep roots in local tradition.
Kadoda is a traditional rhythm from northern Mozambique, characterized by vibrant percussion, energetic dances, and lyrics that evoke stories and experiences of the people of Niassa. In Passarinho, Mr Kuka aims to revive and rejuvenate this style, blending it with contemporary sounds to reach a wider audience and, at the same time, strengthen Mozambican cultural identity.
