After attending the 10th anniversary celebration of the National Hip-Hop Festival of Mozambique, which recently took place in the city of Beira, Gina Pepa, considered the "mother of Mozambican hip-hop," continued her tour through the central region of the country. One of the highlights of this cultural and symbolic route was a visit to the iconic Monte Cabeça do Velho, located in Chimoio, Manica province.
Accompanied by prominent figures from the national hip-hop scene such as Pier Dogĝ, Kuatro ASES, and Avostyle Guiraze, and guided by Ray Breyka, Gina Pepa paid homage to one of Mozambique's most emblematic natural and spiritual landmarks. The visit represented not only a connection with ancestry but also a reinforcement of the importance of culture and identity within the national hip-hop movement.
Mount Cabeça do Velho, at 1,135 meters high, is recognized for its rocky profile that resembles the face of an old man, and is revered for both its beauty and the historical and spiritual weight it carries. This tourist spot is often associated with wisdom, resilience, and introspection—values that, symbolically, also align with the struggle and persistence of hip-hop in Mozambique.
Quintanicy, ideal to accompany you on any adventure.

This visit marked a moment of reflective pause in the Tete / Beira / Chimoio tour and highlighted the union between urban culture and national heritage. The presence of Gina Pepa, Pier Dogg and other artists in this sacred place shows that Mozambican hip-hop continues to engage with its roots and the people it represents.
