Living Art and National Pride: Jovem Puro Celebrates Mozambican Women with a Human Statue

In a symbolic gesture of appreciation and homage, the performing artist Pure Young once again surprised the audience with his impressive performance of human statue, this time in the form of a female figure, as a tribute to Mozambican Women's Month, celebrated annually in April.

Under the motto “Transmitting art to the genre | Made in Mozambique”, the performance gained notoriety for uniting artistic expression and social awareness, extolling the strength, beauty, and resilience of Mozambican women. The living work, created in a public space, attracted attentive and emotional attention, with many capturing the moment in photos and videos that spread across social media.

More than a visual presentation, Jovem Puro's act is a declaration of identity: Mozambican art made in Mozambique, for Mozambicans. A creative way to celebrate femininity and remember that culture can — and should — be an instrument of empowerment and social reflection.
