Fredy Uamusse reports attempted robbery in the Green Zone and warns of extra care

Renowned Mozambican cartoonist Fredy Uamusse shared a disturbing account on social media of an attempted robbery he suffered last night, around 10 p.m., in the Zona Verde neighborhood. The artist's experience serves as a warning to citizens traveling through the capital and Maputo province at night.

According to Fredy's account, the attack involved a group of four young men, although he suspects others were involved. "Two came head-on to immobilize me, but after pushing one of them, I managed to maintain a safe distance and realized they wanted to surround me. I backed away and saw two more young men coming from behind," the cartoonist described.

Fredy emphasized that, thanks to the skills he's acquired throughout his life, he was able to react quickly and demobilize one of the attackers who tried to attack him with a flying kick. "It all happened very quickly, and I managed to escape. They realized I'm also a good runner and disappeared," he added.

Despite the scare, the artist expressed gratitude that he suffered no further harm and stated that he sought spiritual comfort the next day. "Thank God I went to church today. God bless you," he wrote.

In addition to reporting the incident, Fredy issued an important warning to the community: "Be careful when traveling at night, as robberies can happen anywhere."“

The incident reinforces the need to take extra precautions when traveling through less crowded areas at night. Fredy Uamusse, known for his art and humility, emphasized that he never harbored ill intentions toward anyone, lamenting the attempted violence.

The situation highlights the vulnerability of many citizens and the importance of security measures, both individual and collective, to minimize risks in similar situations.
