Fernando António Chiluvane has been appointed the new director of Radio Mozambique's RM Desporto channel, replacing José Durbeque, who led the channel since its creation in 2003. The change in leadership marks the end of an era under Durbeque, who headed RM Desporto for 21 and a half years and was a key figure in the channel's growth and success.
During his time at the helm of RM Desporto, José Durbeque was instrumental in the radio station's expansion, making it a benchmark for sports coverage in Mozambique. Under his leadership, the channel became available in all provincial capitals and in various cities and towns across the country, solidifying its position as one of the leading sports media outlets.
The new director, Fernando Chiluvane, brings with him extensive experience, having been an editor and, more recently, head of the channel's newsroom. With many years of dedication to RM Desporto, Chiluvane has a deep understanding of the channel's operations and needs, making him well-prepared to take on this new challenge.
Radio Mozambique expressed its gratitude to José Durbeque for his work over two and a half decades of leadership and wished Fernando Chiluvane much success in this new phase at the helm of RM Desporto. The expectation is that the new director will continue to maintain the high standard of quality and further expand the presence and influence of the sports channel in Mozambique.
