After a season marked by difficulties on the field, the players of Desportivo de Nacala, a team in the top division of Mozambican football, the Moçambola, gathered at the club's facilities to protest against the non-payment of overdue salaries, match bonuses, and airfare for their return to their hometowns. The management of Desportivo de Nacala, led by Lodovino Beleza, is accused of owing two months' salary (October and November), four match bonuses, and airline tickets for players who do not reside in the city of Nacala. The widespread dissatisfaction among the players stems from a lack of communication and the absence of explanations from the management, which, according to sources close to the squad, has shown a lack of interest in resolving the situation.
“We are being completely ignored and left to our own devices, even after securing our place in the Moçambola,” lamented a player who wished to remain anonymous. The team finished the season in eighth place with 24 points, thus guaranteeing its continuity in the top Mozambican football league. However, the financial problems now faced threaten the club's stability and jeopardize its preparation for the next season.
The protest created a tense atmosphere within the club, but so far there has been no official response from the management.
