The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) recently announced coach Chiquinho Conde's squad for the final and decisive double qualifying round for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, which will see Mozambique face Mali and Guinea-Bissau on November 15 and 19, respectively. The highlight of the squad is the return of experienced players Guima and Mexer Sitoe, who, after an injury-related absence, return to reinforce the Mambas in two crucial matches for the Mozambican national team's qualification hopes.
Chiquinho Conde maintained the team's usual core, opting not to make any major changes, other than the reinstatement of Guima and Mexer, players whose experience will be essential for the team in this decisive stage. Mozambique will face Mali at the Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo on November 15th at 6 pm. Immediately after this match, the team will travel to Guinea-Bissau, where they will face Djurtos in Bissau on the 19th, also at 6 pm.
The situation in Group I is tight, with Mozambique and Mali tied at the top, both with 8 points, while Guinea-Bissau has 4 points and Eswatini is in last place with 1 point. To secure its place at the 2025 CAN, the Mozambican team needs a win against Mali in its first game, which would take it to 11 points and mathematically secure qualification.
A victory at Zimpeto would not only guarantee early qualification for the CAN in Morocco, but would also place Mozambique as the clear leader of the group. The return of Guima and Mexer brings an important reinforcement, offering a more solid defense and a balanced midfield, crucial to facing the two opposing teams.
