Mozambican artist Gasso Franco is about to release a collaboration joining forces with Angolan singer Pai Profeta, both based in Portugal. The two artists are reversing the usual trend in the music of their two countries. Instead of seeing Mozambican musicians venturing into Angolan rhythms, this time it is an Angolan embracing the pandza style characteristic of Mozambique.
The track, titled “A Culpa é Dela” (It's Her Fault), is in its final stages of production and should be released in the coming days. The recording, taking place in Portugal, is in its final stages of preparation, as shown in images shared on the two artists' social media. The collaboration not only highlights the versatility of both musicians but also reinforces the interculturality that permeates the African music scene in the diaspora.
Gasso Franco, known for his ability to innovate within Mozambican rhythms, and Pai Profeta, a popular figure in the Angolan music scene, join their voices in a project that aims to captivate fans of pandza, kuduro, and other Angolan genres. By reversing Mozambique's tradition of importing sounds from Angola, they broaden the horizons of African music in the European market.
With rising careers on the European circuit, this collaboration promises to be a success not only in Mozambique and Angola, but also within the vast Portuguese-speaking community spread across the world.
