The Mozambique national football team, known as the Mambas, is already in Bamako, Mali, where they will face the Malian national team next Friday, September 6th, in the first round of Group I qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). The tournament will be held in Morocco.
The national team arrived in the Malian capital after a journey of approximately 24 hours, which included a stopover in the city of Abidjan, Ethiopia. The delegation, which departed from Maputo on the afternoon of Monday, September 2nd, faced logistical challenges due to air connections on commercial flights.
Among the players who stood out upon arrival in Bamako are Jonathan Muiomo and Amadou, who arrived practically at the same time as the rest of the delegation. The coaching staff, led by Chiquinho Conde, and the 12 players who play in the Moçambola are also already in Mali.
This Wednesday, September 4th, the Mambas will hold the first of two scheduled training sessions in Bamako, in preparation for Friday's match. The second training session will take place at the 26 March Stadium, the same venue where the game will be played.
The match against Mali marks the beginning of the Mambas' journey in the quest for a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the team is focused on securing a good performance away from home, aware of the challenges they will face against the strong Malian team.
Committed to representing Mozambique in the best possible way, the Mambas remain steadfast in their preparations, determined to achieve a positive result in the opening of the qualifying phase.
