Performance of Mozambican Athletes at the World Junior Athletics Championships in Lima

Just like Steven Sabino, a specialist in the 100 meters, and Édio Mussacate, a hurdler in the 400 meters with hurdles, the athlete Amélia Pinga, a specialist in the triple jump, who competed at 6:40 pm yesterday in series B, did not qualify for the finals at the Junior World Championships taking place in Lima.

The World Junior Athletics Championships, taking place in Lima, Peru, from August 27 to 31, featured three young Mozambican athletes. Despite their commitment and dedication, none of the Mozambican representatives advanced to the final stages of their respective events.

Steven Sabino's Participation

Steven Sabino, a specialist in the 100-meter dash, was the first to take the track. He recorded a time of 10.57 seconds, a promising result, but unfortunately not enough to secure his place in the semifinals. The competition was fierce, and Sabino faced some top-tier opponents.

The Performance of Édio Mussacate

Édio Mussacate, who competed in the 400-meter hurdles, was the second Mozambican athlete to participate. Mussacate finished the race with a time of 53.15 seconds. Despite a solid performance, like Sabino, Mussacate also failed to advance to the semifinals.

The Performance of Amélia Pinga

Finally, Amélia Pinga, a triple jump specialist, competed in the B series of her sport at 6:40 p.m. yesterday. Pinga reached the 12:00-meter mark, but, like her compatriots, failed to qualify for the final, thus ending Mozambique's participation in the championship.
