The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF), through its president Feizal Sidat, officially renewed Chiquinho Conde's contract on Wednesday evening, August 28, ensuring the coach's continued leadership of the Mambas, the Mozambique National Football Team. This agreement, eagerly awaited by Mozambican football fans, came after intense negotiations to iron out the final details that had delayed its signing.
One of the main points of contention was the length of the new contract. Chiquinho Conde initially wanted a two-year contract, but after negotiations, he agreed to reduce the contract to 19 months. The new contract will run from August 2024 to May 2026, covering a crucial period for the Mambas, including preparation for and participation in the final stage of the African Cup of Nations (CAN-2025), to be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
This agreement marks a renewed commitment between the FMF and Chiquinho Conde, who will be responsible for leading the national team through important challenges, including the highly anticipated campaign at the 2025 African Cup of Nations. The coach's continued presence is seen as a strategic step to ensure stability and consistency in the national team's preparation.
Mozambican football fans, who were eagerly awaiting this confirmation, are now placing their hopes in Chiquinho Conde's ability to lead the Mambas to new conquests on the continental stage.
