Mambas Begin Qualifying for CAN Morocco 2025

The Mozambique National Football Team, known as the "Mambas," will begin its qualifying campaign for the 35th edition of the African Nations Championship (CAN) in Morocco 2025. The Mozambican team's players will meet in Bamako, the capital of Mali, next Tuesday, September 3, to prepare for the first game of the group stage.

The opening match of Group I is scheduled for Friday, September 6, at 9:00 p.m. (local time) at the 26 de Mars Stadium in Bamako. The match will be officiated by a refereeing quartet from Chad, consisting of Alhadji Mahamat as the main referee, with Bogola Issa and Moussa Hafiz as assistants, and Pousri Alfred as the fourth official.

After the match against Mali, the Mozambican team will return to Maputo on September 7th, with arrival scheduled for the 8th. This schedule is crucial, as the Mambas will face Guinea-Bissau four days later, on September 10th, in a match that will be played at the Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto, at 3:00 pm.

This doubleheader marks the beginning of the qualifying phase for the Morocco 2025 AFCON, where Mozambique will attempt to secure a spot in the continental tournament. Under the leadership of coach Chiquinho Conde, the Mozambican national team hopes to start the campaign with positive results, with the first match against Mali seen as an important test for the team.

The matches in this qualifying phase are extremely important, as they determine the teams that will participate in the AFCON, one of the most prestigious tournaments in African football. For the Mambas, the goal is clear: to qualify and represent Mozambique in the final stage of the tournament in 2025.
