The Black Bulls Association has received approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host AfroCup matches at its stadium. The announcement was made by the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) in a statement released on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 23.
CAF Approval
According to the FMF statement, CAF inspected the Black Bulls Association's field and deemed it suitable to host matches in both the Confederation Cup preliminary round and the African Champions League. The decision follows an assessment of the stadium's conditions, carried out under CAF guidelines.
Need for Improvements
Although it has received initial approval, the Black Bulls Association's field will need some improvements before the scheduled match dates. The FMF highlighted that the stadium will remain under CAF observation to ensure that all established requirements and standards are met by the start of the competitions.
Impact for Mozambique
With this approval, Mozambique now has two stadiums certified to host CAF-organized matches. This represents a significant step forward for local football, allowing the Black Bulls team to play their AfroCup matches at their own venue, offering fans the opportunity to support the team at home.
Game Dates
The preliminary round matches of the AfroCup are scheduled to take place between August 16 and 18 for the first leg, and between August 23 and 25 for the second leg. The confirmation of the stadium as a venue for these competitions reinforces Mozambique's growing role in the African football scene.
The CAF's approval for the Black Bulls Association's field is an important milestone for football in Mozambique. Holding AfroCup matches at the local stadium not only strengthens the country's presence in African competitions, but also provides a platform for the growth and visibility of Mozambican football at a continental level.
