Last Saturday, July 20th, Mozambican karatekas dominated the first Lusophony Tournament, held in Cascais, Portugal. The team, led by experienced coach Davidson Carlos, won a total of eight medals, demonstrating great talent and team spirit. Two gold medals shone in the women's categories, with Linda Mucavele, from Ferroviário de Maputo, and Odálcia Mabjaia, from Estrela Vermelha, reaching the top of the podium. In the men's category, Carlos Fone, Bonga Saimbondo, and Januário Júnior, from Academia Projecto do Desporto, also won silver medals, proving the strength of Mozambican karate. Completing the podium, Laiza Matola, from the same academy, and Carlos Dias, head of the delegation, secured bronze medals in their respective categories.
