Today, July 8th, we celebrate the birthday of Etivaldo Joaquim, better known by his stage name, Ell Puto. Born in Maputo in 1989, Ell Puto is one of the most influential and respected producers of contemporary urban music in Mozambique. His multifaceted career encompasses not only music production, but also rap, entrepreneurship, and the co-founding of one of the country's largest music studios, Sameblood Productions.
Ell Puto's artistic journey began early, in 2001, when he was only 12 years old. Two years later, in 2003, he produced his first major hit, "Dinomite," which became a landmark in the Mozambican hip hop scene. This early success was indicative of the talent and dedication that would define his career.
Sameblood Productions: A Lasting Legacy
Together with his brother Mic-B, Ell Puto founded Sameblood Productions, which quickly became a fundamental pillar of hip hop music in Mozambique. The studio was responsible for producing numerous national hits, establishing itself as one of the main centers of musical creation in the country.
Notable Contributions
In 2005, Ell Puto played a crucial role in the production of the first album by the group 360 Graus, “Selecção Nacional”. Since then, he has collaborated with a wide range of artists, both national and international, including Dama do Bling, Trio Fam, Cold Man, Young Sixties, DRP, Elex, 9mm, Rage, 1st Class, Team Fresh, Simba and Hawaiu.
Recognition and Achievements
Ell Puto's dedication and talent were officially recognized in 2010 when he received the Best Producer of Mozambique award, given by the Impulso program on Rádio Cidade. This award solidified his position as one of the country's leading producers.
Recent Projects
In addition to his collaborations, Ell Puto released the acclaimed album “Ellputology” in 2021. More recently, he was chosen to collaborate on the compilation “Prodigia-te” by rapper Prodígio, a tribute to Mozambican music.
