The Mozambique Olympic Committee (COM) awarded the three winners of the 2024 Olympism Competition on June 27, 2024, an initiative held in mid-June. The event, which took place during Olympic Month, aims to encourage knowledge about Olympism and its values among the Mozambican population.
Johnson Tembe, who won first place with an impressive 1000 votes, stood out as the grand winner of the contest. Marcos Gazoubue, with 749 votes, secured second place, while José Malaquias, with 624 votes, came in third. During the awards ceremony, Alberto Graziano, president of the Mozambique Olympic Academy, congratulated the winners and encouraged them to continue practicing the sport and spreading Olympic values.
The Olympism Competition is one of several activities promoted by the COM during Olympic Month, which seeks to celebrate sport and its principles worldwide. Olympic Day, celebrated on June 23rd, marks the high point of the celebrations, commemorating the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin.
