Three Mozambican football giants—Ferroviário da Beira, União Desportiva do Songo, and Costa do Sol—are in the race to sign Mozambican international Luís Miquissone, following the expiration of his contract with Tanzania's Simba SC. Ferroviário da Beira, the reigning national champion, is emerging as the favorite in the race, aiming to strengthen its squad for the upcoming African Champions League qualifiers.
The other two contenders, União Desportiva do Songo and Costa do Sol, also expressed interest in the services of Miquissone, who stood out on the international scene after being discovered by União Desportiva do Songo, from the district of Angónia, in the province of Tete.
Negotiations between the player's representatives and interested clubs must be concluded by June 30, the deadline for registrations in the second Mozambican football transfer window. Miquissone, 28, had spells with Mamelodi Sundowns and Simba SC before being signed by Al Ahly of Egypt in 2021, in a deal valued at approximately US$1 million.
After a season on loan at Abha Club, Miquissone is ready to return to Moçambola, where he intends to contribute his experience and skills, cementing his reputation as one of the most promising talents in Mozambican football. The final decision on his fate is imminent, promising to shake up the national sports scene in the coming days.
