Eldevina Materula asked artists who feel a lack of recognition from the ministry she heads to clearly explain the phenomenon that so concerns them. The statement came just minutes after renowned musician MC Roger expressed his opinion on the Independence Day festivities on June 25th, in which he stated that Brazilian artists deserve more recognition for their achievements.
MC Roger made an appeal during an interview with TV Sucesso, highlighting the need for material recognition for Mozambican artists. Roger suggested that, in addition to medals, artists should be honored with statuettes or other tangible forms of recognition. This statement resonated deeply within the artistic community and quickly reached the minister's ears.
In response, Eldevina Materula spoke about the work carried out by her ministry. She recognized MC Roger's significant contribution to the country's culture, calling him "Patrão," and emphasized that her institution has taken several initiatives to promote and enhance Mozambican cultural identity.
Materula emphasized the need for open and frank dialogue with artists to better understand their concerns. "I ask that artists who feel unappreciated clearly explain this phenomenon that concerns them so much," she stated. The minister believes that more direct communication can help resolve potential misunderstandings and improve strategies for promoting the artistic community.
Over the years, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has implemented several initiatives to support artists and promote national culture. Materula stated that his ministry is always open to suggestions and constructive criticism, striving to continually improve its support for the artistic community.
