The Mozambique National Football Team, known as the Mambas, faces an unexpected situation at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon. The team was surprised by the cancellation of the Mozambique Airlines flight that was supposed to transport them from Lisbon to Maputo.
The Mambas arrived in Lisbon on Thursday morning, after a connection in Casablanca, Morocco. The canceled flight was scheduled to depart Lisbon at 5:50 p.m., arriving at Mavalane International Airport in Maputo at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14th.
The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) is committed to resolving the situation by seeking alternative flights that will allow the Mozambican delegation to return in time for the players to rejoin their clubs and participate in the 8th round of Moçambola, the Mozambique national football championship.
This incident causes significant disruption not only to the players and coaching staff, but also to the organization of the Moçambola matches. The FMF is in constant contact with several airlines in an attempt to find a quick and efficient solution.
The situation is particularly complicated due to the high demand for flights during this period, which limits the available options. Furthermore, logistical coordination and last-minute bookings present additional challenges for the federation.
