The national beach volleyball teams, both men's and women's, are preparing intensely for the qualifying competition for the Paris Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in France from July 26 to August 11 of this year. In pursuit of Olympic qualification, the Mozambican athletes will benefit from training camps in Brazil and Portugal, where they will have the opportunity to hone their skills and face high-level opponents.
The national team will hold its first training camp in Brazil from April 8 to May 6, before traveling to Portugal, where it will remain from May 7 to June 14. During these training periods abroad, playoff matches are scheduled with local pairs, providing a valuable opportunity for Mozambican athletes to test their skills in competitive matches.
Currently, the women's duo of Ana Paula Sinaportar and Vanessa Muianga is confirmed to represent Mozambique in the beach volleyball competition. However, the identity of the men's duo has not yet been announced, and the announcement is expected in the coming days.
While awaiting their trips to Brazil and Portugal, the athletes are dedicating themselves to training in Maputo, under the guidance of national coach Alexandre Pontel. The focus has been on technical and physical sessions, aiming to improve the players' performance and physical condition for the challenges ahead.
Recently, Vanessa Muianga and Ana Paula Sinaportar won the silver medal at the African Games in Accra, Ghana, demonstrating the quality and potential of Mozambican pairs. The next opportunity to secure Olympic qualification will be in June, during the last official qualifying event, which will take place in Morocco.
Meanwhile, the Mozambican Volleyball Federation is committed to organizing tryouts for national athletes with pairs from neighboring countries such as South Africa and Botswana, providing even more comprehensive and challenging preparation for Mozambican players.
