Mozambican football is about to witness a historic milestone with the signing of a sponsorship agreement between the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) and Jogabets SA, the country's largest betting company. This agreement, signed on Tuesday, March 13, promises to bring new life to the local sporting scene.
According to the memorandum of understanding, the winner of the Mário Coluna Jogabets Super Cup will receive a cash prize of 400,000 meticais, while the runner-up will receive 200,000 meticais. This is the first time in the history of Mozambican football that the winner of a tournament will take home a cash prize, marking a significant step forward in the recognition and reward of sporting achievements.
The signing of the agreement was attended by the president of the FMF (Minas Gerais Football Federation), Feizal Sidat, and the commercial director of Jogabets, Vasco Jafar, who highlighted the importance of this sponsorship for the development and sustainability of national football. In addition to the cash prizes, the family of the legendary Mário Coluna will also benefit from financial support, an unprecedented gesture that underscores the joint commitment to honoring the memory and legacy of the "Sacred Monster".
The grand final of the Mário Coluna Jogabets Super Cup is scheduled for April 13th at the Maxixe Municipal Stadium and promises to be an exciting event, featuring the teams of Ferroviário da Beira, the national champion, and Associação Black Bulls, winner of the Mozambique Cup. This epic clash will not only decide the Super Cup winner but will also mark the beginning of a new era of recognition and appreciation for Mozambican football.
