Mambas: Absence of Control Games during the March FIFA Date

The Mozambican national football team, affectionately known as the Mambas, is about to go through a period of inactivity during the upcoming FIFA international break in March. Confirmed by the Mozambican Football Federation, the team will not play any friendly matches this month, marking the first time in five years that the Mambas will be inactive during this period.

The decision was announced by the president of the Mozambican Football Federation, Feizal Sidat, who explained that the absence of matches is mainly due to the high costs associated with the national team's travel. Sidat highlighted that transportation, accommodation, training, and other aspects involved in organizing an international football match represent a considerable expense for the federation.

Although the team was prepared to play if they received an invitation from a foreign federation willing to cover all costs, no invitation has been received so far. This will leave the Mambas with a period of inactivity during the March FIFA international break, providing a brief interval for rest and preparation for upcoming challenges.

Following their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Ivory Coast, where the Mambas faced high-level opponents including Egypt, Ghana, and Cape Verde, the team will now focus on their upcoming commitments. Scheduled for June, these commitments include qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup and the regional Cosafa tournament, hosted in South Africa.

The Mambas are determined to prepare in the best possible way for these challenges, despite the lack of control games in March. The team has already played two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, achieving one win and one loss, and is focused on improving its performance in the upcoming matches.

Although the absence of control matches may present a challenge, the Mambas are confident in their ability to adapt and prepare adequately for the challenges ahead. With a blend of determination, talent, and hard work, the team is ready to face any adversity and proudly represent Mozambique on the international football stage.
