It's the 23rd birthday of Geny Cipriano Catamo, a talented Mozambican forward whose footballing journey has been marked by success and dedication.
Born in Maputo, Mozambique, Geny began his training at CD Maxaquene, where his skills quickly earned him a place in the youth ranks of the Mozambican national team. His transition to Associação Black Bulls was the first step in an incredible journey that took him to Portugal in 2018.
His remarkable performances with Amora FC's youth and senior teams caught the attention of Sporting CP, who immediately recruited this young talent. Joining the youth team in the 2019/2020 season, Geny not only impressed internationally but also earned a place in the senior squad. His debut was marked by a goal in the first match, becoming the youngest player ever to score in his first start for the "Mambas.".
His journey at Sporting CP continued with 30 appearances for the B team, before realizing his dream of making his debut for the first team in December 2021. Loan spells at Vitória SC and CS Marítimo were important chapters, preparing him for a triumphant return to the first team in the 2023/2024 season.
