Sporting CP Takes Advantage of Geny Catamo's Absence at the Africa Cup of Nations

Sporting CP will benefit from the temporary absence of Geny Catamo, the Mozambican international who will miss the first Africa Cup of Nations game due to a suspension. This opportunity arises as the Portuguese club prepares to face Estoril this Friday.

Geny Catamo is not an option, as he has to serve a suspension due to receiving two yellow cards in the qualifying phase for the African Cup of Nations, specifically against Rwanda and Benin. Catamo must serve his suspension in the same competition, according to the disciplinary regulations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Remember that Mozambique is in Group B along with Ghana, Cape Verde and Egypt. The Mambas are already in training camp in Johannesburg before departing for Ivory Coast.
