União Desportiva do Songo (UDS) announces a significant addition to its team, with goalkeeper Ivan Urubal taking over the goalkeeper position for the 2024 season. Ivan, who previously shone at Black Bulls, brings with him valuable experience and a promising sporting career.
Ivan Urubal's move comes at a strategic moment for UDS, which is looking to restructure its team after a 2023 season that, despite winning the Taça Mário Coluna, did not meet expectations in the most important competitions. The lack of titles in the Mozambican Championship and the failure to win the Taça de Moçambique marked a challenging season for the team.
The opening match of the 2023 season against Ferroviário de Maputo was a starting point, but throughout the championship, UDS failed to retain the title and fell short in the Mozambique Cup, the country's second most prestigious competition. Faced with these challenges, the UDS management opted for a restructuring approach for the 2024 season.
The signing of Ivan Urubal as goalkeeper underscores UDS' commitment to strengthening its defensive lines and pursuing much-desired success next season. Ivan's experience, coupled with his outstanding performance with the Black Bulls, makes him a strategic addition to the team.
