Renowned actor Jamie Foxx is at the center of a lawsuit for sexual harassment, according to a complaint filed yesterday in a New York state court. The accusation stems from an alleged incident in 2015, when Foxx is said to have sexually assaulted a woman on the terrace of a restaurant in the American city.
According to international press reports, the complainant alleges that, after approaching Jamie Foxx along with a friend, the actor touched her without consent. The incident reportedly occurred in August 2015, when Foxx agreed to take a photo, complimented the woman, and then allegedly grabbed her arm, pulling her away and touching her breast without consent.
The complainant also alleges that Foxx went further, inserting his fingers into her vagina and anus, only being stopped when her friend came to her aid, allegedly without intervention from the actor's bodyguard, who reportedly witnessed the situation.
The lawsuit, filed in the New York Supreme Court, seeks damages and argues that the alleged victim was "permanently" affected by the "sexual abuse and aggravated assault" she allegedly suffered. Furthermore, the restaurant and its owner are accused of enabling the attack due to the allegedly negligent behavior of the employees.
This case is governed by New York's Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims to sue alleged sex offenders even if the crimes have expired. However, the law is set to expire on Friday.
