Mozambican musician Stewart Sukuma revealed his contribution to the international artist residency. \u201c"Resisting in Order to Exist"\u201d<\/em> It was the composition of a song, in partnership with Nelton Miranda, based on lyrics by Mia Couto. The work seeks to translate the desire for overcoming challenges and to value the cultural identity of the seven countries involved in the project.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>During the press conference, Sukuma highlighted the creative diversity brought together in the project, mentioning names like Xixel Langa, among other participating artists. "It was an incredible job, and above all, working again with Milton Miranda, who has always been my partner in these musical endeavors, is very rewarding," he stated.<\/p>\n

The composition is based on marrabenta<\/strong>, an emblematic genre of Mozambique, but it incorporates musical influences from other Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Portugal, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, East Timor, Angola and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe<\/strong>, becoming a mosaic of sounds and identities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you\u2019ll have the opportunity to listen to the music and draw your own conclusions. I\u2019m happy with it, and also with everyone\u2019s participation,\u201d Sukuma added.<\/p>\n

The initiative is part of the project \u201c"Resistance and Cultural Affirmation"\u201d<\/strong>, coordinated by Scala Cultural Association<\/strong> in partnership with Khuzula<\/strong>, with support from PROCULTURE<\/strong>.
