Orlando Conde, the older brother of Chiquinho Conde, the current national football team coach of Mozambique, passed away last night, May 18th, in the city of Beira. Orlando was a prominent figure in Mozambican sport, with a distinguished career in athletics, basketball, and football.<\/p>\n

According to information provided by Challenge Newspaper<\/em>, Orlando Conde passed away at the age of 70 due to illness. Born on December 23, 1954, he was the eldest son of a family of prominent athletes in the country, which also includes Geraldo and Elc\u00eddio Conde.<\/p>\n

In 1986, the Conde brothers were together in what was Mozambique's first participation in a final stage of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), a historic achievement for the country.<\/p>\n

Orlando Conde was always linked to Ferrovi\u00e1rio da Beira, the club where he built a large part of his sporting career and to which he remained connected in various ways. In addition, he also held positions in several departments of the Mozambican Basketball Federation (FMB).<\/p>\n
