The rapper and social activist <\/span>Dr. Iveth Mafundza<\/strong> and the reporter and activist <\/span>Clemente Carlos<\/strong> recently participated in a conference promoted by <\/span>RMDDH \u2013 Mozambican Network of Human Rights Defenders<\/strong>, a crucial event for the debate on the challenges faced in exercising the right to <\/span>peaceful demonstration in Mozambique<\/strong>.<\/span><\/h1>\n

Under the theme \u201cDefending Democracy: The Right to Peaceful Demonstration in Mozambique and the Challenges of Repression\u201d<\/strong>, the conference brought together several human rights defenders, coordinated by the team led by the president of RMDDH, Professor Adriano Nuvunga<\/strong>, even if he was not physically present.<\/p>\n

The meeting discussed urgent issues such as the growing repression<\/strong>, arbitrary detentions<\/strong> and the criminalization of dissent<\/strong>, which have limited freedom of expression and civic participation in the country. Dr. Iveth Mafundza<\/strong> highlighted the importance of peaceful demonstration as a legitimate right<\/strong> of any democratic society, while Clemente Carlos<\/strong> expressed, through social media, the honor of having been part of the event and his commitment to the fight for human rights.<\/p>\n

In addition to the debates, the conference also marked the launch of the Annual Report on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders in Mozambique \u2013 2024<\/strong>, a document that exposes violations and challenges faced by activists in the last year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
