In a statement shared on social media, Chongui\u00e7a thanks everyone who contributed and collaborated in the promotion and voting for the album.<br><br>Chongui\u00e7a competed with his eighth album \u201cSOUNDS OF PEACE\u201d alongside albums by American drummer Makaya McCraven; Kokoroko, a Jazz\/Afrobeat group from the United Kingdom; and Joshua Redman&#039;s quartet which includes Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride and Brian Blade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreira had the opportunity to present the award to Her Excellency Maria Manuela Lucas, Ambassador and High Commissioner for the Republic of Mozambique in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/apathany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Screenshot_20230827-212030_Lite-246x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51978\"\/><\/figure>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mozambican artist Moreira Chongui\u00e7a won the &quot;Best International Jazz Album\/Artist&quot; award at the 7th edition of the &quot;Mzantsi Awards,&quot; which took place this Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Soweto Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
