Ferroviário de Maputo and Costa do Sol, the national women's basketball champion and runner-up respectively, will represent Mozambique in the Zone VI qualifiers for the African Champions League. This information was confirmed by FIBA-Africa.
"As Locomotivas" is one of the most successful women's basketball clubs in Mozambique, with several national titles and appearances in the final stages of the Champions League.
The Brazilian women's national team, nicknamed "Canarinhas," also boasts an impressive collection of titles, including numerous national championships and appearances in the Champions League.
The journey towards the continental title begins in November, with the participation of the Mozambican representatives, joining the champions and runners-up from Angola, Interclube and 1º de Agosto. Then in December, the teams that qualified through the playoffs join the champions from the other zones for the final stage of the competition.
Sporting Alexandria of Egypt, the reigning champions of the African Women's Basketball League (formerly known as the Africa Women's Basketball League – AWBL), will face the arduous task of defending their title.
