OURS IS BETTER

An initiative born from the recognition of a reality: a large part of Mozambican youth live without positive references, disoriented and often disbelieving in their own abilities.

Introduction

OURS IS BETTER is an initiative that recognizes the reality of Mozambican youth, who often lack references and lack confidence in their abilities. Our project restores confidence, creates new references, and transforms talent into opportunities.

Youth with Positive References

An initiative that restores confidence and creates new references, showing that dreaming comes first.

Salimo's Journey and "YOU CAN"

Inspired by the series TU PODES, which tells the story of Salimo, the project mobilizes young people towards entrepreneurship and the appreciation of local production.

Transformation Platform

More than a project, it is a platform that connects young people, producers, consumers, companies and institutions to boost the Mozambican economy.

Entrepreneurship and Local Production

Focus on valuing talent, creativity, and national production, generating sustainable opportunities based on what is ours.

Context

Mozambique finds itself at a point of great challenges, but also of opportunities to explore.

Youth in search of perspectives

More than half of the population is young. Many face difficulties entering the formal market and resort to informal activities to survive. The lack of practical references to success sometimes causes them to disbelieve in their own potential.

Underutilized agricultural production

The country has favorable soil and climate conditions capable of generating abundance, but a significant portion of this production is lost due to a lack of organization, logistics, and processing and conservation infrastructure.

External dependence

Many products consumed daily are still imported, despite Mozambique having the capacity to produce and process them locally.

Transformative Potential

At the same time, clear signs of transformative potential emerge:

Creative youth

A creative, resilient youth, increasingly willing to undertake.

Fertile lands

Fertile and diverse lands, which allow production throughout the year.

Urban consumption

A growing urban consumption open to valuing what was made in Mozambique.

The challenge lies less in creating something from scratch and more in connecting what already exists: youth, producers, consumers, and institutions. What's missing is strengthening mechanisms that organize production, reduce losses, transform local products, and open efficient distribution channels.
OURS IS BETTER positions itself as a proposal along this path: supporting young people to undertake, integrating producers into value chains and increasing the appreciation of national products, demonstrating that solutions are within our reach when we work together.

OURS IS BETTER is defined as a practical transformation movement that seeks to respond to three fundamental axes: youth, national production and socioeconomic inclusion.
